Product Overview
MAX485EESA+ is a low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communications in harsh environments. Each driver output and receiver input is protected against ±15kV electro-static discharge (ESD) shocks, without latch up. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places their outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if the input is an open circuit. The application includes low-power RS-485 transceivers, low-power RS-422 transceivers, level translators, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, and industrial-control local area networks.
- 5V maximum differential driver output (no load, VCC = 5V ±5%)
- 3V maximum driver common-mode output voltage (R = 27 or 50 ohm, VCC = 5V ±5%)
- Receiver differential threshold voltage range from -0.2 to 0.2V (-7V ≤ VCM ≤ 12V)
- Supply voltage range from 4.75V to 5.25V
- Receiver short-circuit current range from 7mA to 95mA (0V ≤ VO ≤ VCC)
- Typical ESD protection is ±15KV (A, B, Y and Z pins, tested using human body model)
- Typical driver rise or fall time is 20ns (RDIFF = 54ohm, CL1 = CL2 = 100pF)
- Maximum data rate is 2.5Mbps minimum (VCC = 5V ±5%)
- 8-pin SO package
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
