MAX3488ESA+ is a full duplex, low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communication. It contains one driver and one receiver. This device features slew-rate limited drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, allowing error-free data transmission at data rates up to 250Kbps. Drivers are short-circuit current limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if both inputs are open circuit. It is used in applications such as low-power RS-485/RS-422 transceivers, telecommunications, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, industrial-control local area networks.

- Supply current is 1.1mA typical at (no load, DI = 0V or VCC)
- Supply current in shutdown mode is 1µA maximum at (DE = 0V, RE = VCC, DI = VCC or 0V)
- Driver differential output delay is 900ns typical at (RL = 60 ohm, VCC = 3.3V, TA = +25°C)
- Receiver propagation delay (low-to-high level) is 65ns typical at (VID = 0V to 3.0V, CL = 15pF)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
- 8-pin SO package
