MAX3483ESA+ is a 3.3V, low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communication. It contains one driver and one receiver. It features slew-rate-limited drivers that minimize EMI and reduce reflections caused by improperly terminated cables, allowing error-free data transmission at data rates upto 250kbps. Drivers are short-circuit current-limited and are protected against excessive power dissipation by thermal shutdown circuitry that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver input has a fail-safe feature that guarantees a logic-high output if both inputs are open circuits. It is used in applications such as low-power RS-485/RS-422 transceivers, telecommunications, transceivers for EMI-sensitive applications, and industrial-control local area networks.

- Interoperable with +5V logic, -7V to +12V common-mode input voltage range
- Allows upto 32 transceivers on the bus, supply voltage range from 3V to 3.6V
- Current-limiting and thermal shutdown for driver overload protection
- Half duplex, 2nA shutdown current, 8-pin count
- Supply current is 1.1mA typical at (VCC = 3.3V ±0.3V)
- Supply current in shutdown mode is 1µA maximum at (TA = +25°C)
- Driver propagation delay skew is 8ns maximum at (RL = 27 ohm, VCC = 3.3V, TA = +25°C)
- Driver differential output delay is 22ns typical at (RL = 60 ohm, VCC = 3.3V, TA = +25°C)
- Operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C, 8-pin SO package
