MAX3471CUA+ is an RS-485/RS-422, half-duplex, differential transceiver for battery-powered systems. Its wide 2.5V to 5.5V supply voltage guarantees operation over the lifetime of a lithium battery. This device features a true fail-safe operation that guarantees a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that the receiver output will be a logic high if all transmitters on a terminated bus are disabled (high impedance). It has a 1/8-unit load input resistance. When driver outputs are enabled and pulled above VCC or below GND, internal circuitry prevents battery back charging. It is used in applications such as remote meter reading, battery-powered differential communications, and level translators.

- Receiver differential threshold voltage is -250mA typical at (VCC = +2.5V to +5.5V)
- Receiver input resistance is 96Kohm minimum at (VCC = +2.5V to +5.5V)
- Driver rise or fall time is 1.34µs typical at (VCC = +2.5V to +5.5V)
- Operating temperature range from 0°C to +70°C, 8 µMAX package
